Lot #124470

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the seller in March 1999 and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Finished in green over tan leather upholstery, the car is equipped with a tan soft top, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, Smiths instrumentation, and a Pioneer CD stereo. This Series II XKE is now offered at no reserve with a service manual, hand-written service notes, a boot cover, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in green and is believed to have been repainted under prior ownership. Exterior details include a tan convertible top with a matching boot cover, dual side mirrors, a vented hood, an aftermarket antenna, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the windshield wipers do not work, and bodywork is evident on the front bumper.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/70 Firestone Precision tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The seller notes the emergency brake is in need of adjustment as well as a fluid leak near the brake fluid reservoir.

The interior features bucket seats that were reupholstered in tan leather under current ownership and are joined by color-coordinated door panels. Rubber floor mats line the footwells, and appointments include a heater, a locking glove compartment, a wooden shift knob, and a Pioneer CD stereo linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack. The car is not equipped with seatbelts, and the seller notes that the windows are difficult to operate and that the turn signal self-canceling feature as well as the rocker switches work intermittently.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. An analog clock as well as auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 9k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and finned valve covers. The spark plugs were replaced in February 2020.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The differential fluid was changed in 2022. Rust is noted on the underside, and the seller notes that metal support plates were added under previous ownership.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
