This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was purchased by the current owner in 2002, and it was repainted in Pale Primrose with a black soft top circa 2007. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome 15″ wire wheels, Koni front shocks, and wrap-around bumpers. The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black leather along with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a push-button AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE roadster is now offered in Missouri on dealer consignment with a boot cover, rubber floor mats, and a clean Illinois title.

The car was repainted in 2007, reportedly in the factory color of Pale Primrose, and fitted with a replacement black soft top. Details include sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, triple windshield wipers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Pirelli P400 Touring tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Koni shocks are fitted up front.

The bucket seats are upholstered in black leather and joined by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a locking glovebox, a push-button AMFM radio, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while readouts for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are housed in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Corrosion is noted on underbody components.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
