Opening bid $11,900, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This car is priced to sell. I need the garage space for another vehicle.
I purchased this 1969 XKE 4.2 Litre Series 2 from the original owner about 22 years ago and it has been great fun over the years. It has never been raced. The odometer reads 5763 miles although the original owner had an overhaul of the engine before I bought it and the odometer was reset. I have no idea what actual mileage was before I got it. Since I have owned it, it has always been garaged, and driven less than 100 miles a year. The car has been cared for by qualified Jaguar mechanics and recently had a complete overhaul excluding the engine in 2005.

Overall I would say the car is in good condition. Body is clean and straight. There is some minor rust and rubber trim deterioration as would be be expected on a car over 40 years old. Floor pans are solid, wheelwells and door panels good and battery box area is clean. Boot area is clean and shows no rust. The boot latch needs adjustment as it occasionally springs open if you hit a bump. The engine tends to overheat after prolonged running in very hot weather. The radiator is in good condition but probably needs to be flushed.

This car was painted more than 20 years ago, and now there are some cracks which could use a touch up on the hood and rear boot area. Seats are fair to good with the driver’s showing the most wear, as is normal. No dash cracks, no missing parts. All electrical components work with exception of the clock. Speedo, tach and fuel gauge work but need calibration. Car starts dependably. The car has no leaks. Oil pressure strong and transmission shifts solidly. The leather is original as is the top, but still in good condition. Needs some cleaning. There is a black tonneau cover and a spare, in good condition. Tires are Michellin and tread is good. A spare tire and wheel is in the boot. The plastic left rear fender reflector is broken and needs to be replaced. I have the original owner's manual and all repair receipts. I WILL throw in a Jaguar E Type workshop manual for the series 1,2,3 and 4.2 litre 1961-72 as well.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
