Auction description:
Model E-Type S3 Roadster
First Registered 1972
Registration No Transfer
Engine No 7S8557LA
Chassis No 1S21242
MOT Dec 2010
Colour Black
Offered here is an ex California S3 E-Type roadster, which was bought, by the vendor, in California in 1988. He then imported the car into the UK, ran it for two years and then embarked on a major restoration of the car.
The rust-free body was stripped back to bare metal and repainted, by Mick Rowley, in the same black as the commemorative cars, the car was converted to RHD and the V12 engine fully rebuilt, as was the gearbox and the rear axle, which was also equipped with a 2.88.1 final drive. All of this work was carried out by the highly respected Mick Rowley. The interior was retrimmed by Trimmania using magnolia leather throughout and a mohair hood finished the car off. Additional works included adjustable shock absorbers, rebuilt instruments and fuel pumps and a stainless steel exhaust system.
Sitting on chrome wires, this S3 E-type is a stunning looking example. In the recent past it has further benefited from conversion to SU Carburettors, a new distributor and Lumenition electronic ignition. The radiator has also been re-cored.
As a 1972 example, the car will come with an L registration. It is in regular use and is said to never overheat, uses no oil and maintains excellent oil pressure. In fact the car has provided totally reliable transport in the vendors ownership, which is 22 years.
A fabulous looking E-Type, which is offered with a photo record of the restoration/rebuild, all invoices and MoT's, which support the mileage covered since 1992, which is just 18500 miles since the rebuild.
Note: The registration number does not come with the car.
Estimate £30000-40000
