This is one of the first V-12's produced. It has nice things like the straight hand brake, the cam covers with Jaguar indented in them, the small bumpers, the fiberglass shroud that fits over the radiator with the full circle holes for the trumpets to fit through and the high compression engine (9:1). I have installed a 288 rear end for high speeds on the highway. It still has it's original paint and interior. The engine has never been rebuilt. It is a real nice driver.

Ebay item 6/12/11
xkedata.com website this is the 51st V-12 listed. It is a fully matching number car. The color is Mocha Brown with the tan interior. The nicest thing about this car is that it has the manual gearbox as most of these shipped to the U.S. came with an automatic transmission. It has the 9-1 ratio which gives it the higher horse power. This is a very original car and has never been painted as you will see on the frame rails, the boot floor and where the ID tag is on the door jam. I have taken a lot of care on this car, I keep it in a heated garage and only take it out to car shows.

The few things I have replaced on the car were to make it more desirable. They are as follows - an aluminium radiator, all the correct Jubilee clamps and I dropped the rear end and completely rebuilt it. I also rebuilt the brakes, replaced the shocks, the calipers and put the most desirable 307 differential in, which was an option when ordering the car. This 307 differential gives you the feeling of a 5 speed. On highways it makes it a dream to drive. I had the cage and all the black pieces powder coated, I put in new u joints, bearings and the correct factory, color shocks. I also went through the gaskets on the bumpers, the rear lights and the front lights. When I put the new radiator in, I completely rebuilt the fan shroud, i.e. new blades, motors, rubber gaskets and painted the shroud the correct black wicker color. I also put in all new belts on the car, I had the alternator rebuilt and re-installed it in the car.

The air conditioner actually works in this car and all factory components are still on the car, unlike alot of others that have had the anti-pollution taken off. On the early cars there are a lot of nice features as on the E-type, They are the chrome wire wheels, the factory British Leyland radio, manual gearbox, heated rear window and the whitewall tire option. The cam covers are stamped with Jaguar rather than lableed. As you can see in the pictures the very early cars had the grey jack and handle, the small bumpers, the four port exhaust pipe, the outside sideview mirror that can be adjusted with your hand (not the little knob inside that breaks off all the time), the rear seat pushes forward to enable more storage capacity in the rear, and the handbrake that is straight down.

Shown in the pictures you will see the original SP Dunlop, sport spare tire. The knock off tool and hammer are included, but I forgot to take a picture of them. I recently had all the wheels balanced and installed new tubes.

I have the car currently registered and insured. On the firewall you will see the factory spare key still intact the way it came from the factory. The front and rear rubbers that hold the windshield and the rear glass are original and the factory chrome inserts are still on the car. This a perfect un-molested V-12 E-type. It runs and drives as good as it looks. It needs nothing.

Current bid $11,200 reserve not met, 1 bid 5 days left in auction. Car now said to be in North York, Ontario. 47k miles.

Sellers description:
Body metal is in excellent condition, rust and accident free, original paint! with minor cracks, dents, scratches as it should be after 43 years. All chrome is excellent except for small dent on the grill. Interior is original as well. Seats and carpets are OK, the head liner needs replacement. The dash cover has some cracks, and may be replaced as well. I have the new one and it will go with the car. The front and back windshield gaskets are original and cracked in some places. I have the new ones for replacement and they will go with the car as well. When changing the front windshield gasket it will be easy to replace the dash cover. Wire wheels are in perfect condition, the spare tire wire wheel has some rust. Tires are new and have less then 500 miles. I've only driven the car for about 700 miles during 2 years.

The car is a wonderful example that is ready for daily use, it may be repainted, however like myself the new owner may decide to keep it as original as possible.

I would like to point out some items:
• The car has never been repainted
• The car is rust-free, even the panel joints within the bonnet and at the bottom of the doors and other usually corroded places are in rust free condition
• The interior condition is OK
• The air conditioning system works OK
• Full binder of documentation dating to the mid 1980's
• The car was taken to the Official Concourse d'Elegance of Jaguar
Clubs of North America and received 980; 989,5 and 966,9 out of 1000 points in 2007, 2011 and 2012 accordingly.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
