Car now offered at:
collectingcars.com/for-sale/1971-jaguar-e-type-series-3-v12-2-2-fhc
Seller's description:
Blue/Black
5.3L V12
VIN 1S70308BW
private Sale, Yarrawonga, VIC, Australia, previously Ft. Worth, Texas
This Jaguar E-Type Series 3 FHC is a well-presented example of the marque’s elegant classic 2+2 coupe, offered in highly original condition and benefitting from previous restorative maintenance.
Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre V12, producing up to 272bhp, driving the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
This E-Type was imported to Australia from the US in January 2021, and the odometer shows 81,103 miles from new, however this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This Series 3 E-Type has been fully resprayed in an appealing blue metallic hue, while the cabin is trimmed in black vinyl, punctuated by perforated seat inserts and chrome trim inlays.
It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels, shod in General Touring A/S tyres.
The factory specification includes a three-spoke steering wheel, push-out rear quarter light windows, manually operated front windows, Smiths gauges, dual-zone heater and ventilation controls, and variable speed windscreen wipers.
There are also quad exhaust pipes at the rear.
This E-Type now features an aftermarket water temperature gauge and a more modern radio/cassette player.
The car is accompanied by an original service handbook, and a folder of photos and maintenance invoices from the work carried out in the car’s previous ownership.
CONDITION
The seller is not aware of any bodywork damage.
The previously resprayed blue paintwork is reported to be in excellent overall condition. There are minor stone chips on the front valance air dam, minor blemishes on the bonnet, light scratches on the nearside front bumper, slight misalignment on the radio antenna base, pitting on the rear bumper, and two rust spots on the offside rear wheel arch.
Stepping inside, the cabin is presented in good shape given the car’s age and usage, though there is wear and discolouration on the steering wheel, damage on the under-dashboard trim in the driver’s footwell, wear and cracking on the rear seat base seat belt mounting point, an honest ‘patina’ on the heater and ventilation controls and dashboard switches, missing slats in one of the centre console air vents, a small area of wear on the passenger door sill, blemishes and loose trim on the passenger-side lower dashboard, discolouration on the rear windscreen seal, a gap in the driver’s-side rear headlining, a crack on the driver’s seat folding mechanism trim, and slight creasing on the seats, with wear on the side of the driver’s seat back.
The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
SERVICE HISTORY
This E-Type’s most recent maintenance was carried out at an indicated 80,000 miles, which consisted of the reconditioning of the carburettors.
The seller notes that the car is now VASS accredited, and compliant to all Victoria road requirements.
SUMMARY
This Jaguar E-Type Series 3 FHC is a well-presented example of the stylish British 2+2 coupe, offered in smart condition and benefitting from previous restorative maintenance. Presented in an appealing colour scheme, with elegant styling, and a harmonious naturally aspirated V12 engine, it would make a fine addition to any assembly of British classics, and a wonderful companion for weekend jaunts, longer-distance cruising, and car show visits alike.
