Ebay item 12/30/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $23,100.00 (Reserve not met), 9 bids, 5 days left in auction. 24k miles.

Sellers description:
This beautiful cat was sold in Lafayette, Indiana Oct. 1971, I have the original Bill of Sale. The buyers name on the bill of sale is the same as on the Title. The title re-issued in 1989 shows the odometer reading to be 21,000. This was purchased from an heir of the original owner.

There is no doubt in my mind that the miles are original. Most of the paint is original, the interior is original and almost mint, even the top looks original. The car purrs like the cat that it is, shifts like butter and stops straight.

Complete with the original owners book, both sets of original keys. The jack looks like it has never been used and the wheels look like they have been off a very few times. This car has "0" rust. THe chrome is not pitted and the bonnet fits like it should.

This could be the best in the World with a cosmetic restoration.

Vehicle Condition
Very nice and original.

The car was inspected by an interested person. His report is that the car is indeed a VERY original car. His comment:

It has all the original rubber parts, it has the original top
with the tan inside (plus the anti-drum wedge). It has the original
coil with the ultra-rare ''BALLASTED IGNITION'' sticker on it (this
is different from the SIII coil decal). It has the metal frames on
the choke and heater indicators, etc. It still has the plastic
water shields on the fan motors. It has the original torpedo-shaped
resonators (aftermarket stuff today is blunt on one end). It has
the original carpeting. It has the original spare tire and a jack
that has never touched the ground (still has factory tape on it).
It is like going back to 1971 (minus the rubber rot).

The auction ended at $28,000.00 (Reserve not met) after 23 bids.

Current bid $27,600.00 (Reserve not met), 7 bids, 6 days left in auction. Auction location Houston, Texas.

Sellers description:
Listed is my 1971, Virtually impossible to find, All Original Low Mileage (ID Numbers Matching) SURVIVOR 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II 4.2L Roadster, 4-Speed. It is Classic Jaguar Red/Black Leather Interior with a Black Vinyl Top. It is VIN # 2R13960, with 23,947 all original, super low miles. It has been garaged its whole life, has NO mechanical or electrical issues (NO leaks or rust anywhere), and has never been involved in any accident. It truly looks, runs and drives like a new vehicle. One will not find a higher quality, more original, low mileage Jaguar 4.2 Roadster anywhere on the internet or in the US. As always, the certificate of Title is free and clear of any liens (no flood, reconditioned or salvage problems). All Books, original tax certificate, and Manual comes with the Jag. There are 2 tiny “chips”, 1 on the driver door and one one the rear passenger quarter panel, both no larger than a pea. There also is a very minor ding on the rear trunk lid, and the front passenger side quarter panel. There is one very small separation in the convertible top material near the top driver window

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
