This matching-numbers, unrestored 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series II XKE roadster, with its rare and beautiful color combination of Dark Blue over red leather interior, has 8,466 original miles (the mileage is documented with 19 pieces of documentation). It comes with an extensive array of authentic original documentation, including the original Window Sticker, the original car invoice, the original service/warranty book with metal identification plate for dealer service with the original owner’s name, the original signed sales order, copy of the original Bill of Sale, the original Oregon title, the original temporary registration, the original customer copy of the cashier’s check that purchased this car new, the original dealership receipt of purchase for a total of $6,371, several original dealership and other shop service records with original mileage documented. It also includes a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, many period photographs of the car, the original owner’s manual and many supporting pamphlets in the original dealer pouch, the original paper floor mats and litter bag, the original Lucas hanging battery tag and the original tool kit. With a well-known history from new, this highly authentic car participated at the prestigious Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance 15 times from 1976 through 2001, bringing home a total of 18 awards with ribbons and plaques. Its 15 show display cards from the concours, as well as 15 entry packets with corresponding dated letters, envelopes and show books from the concours are included. The lady who originally owned this Jaguar - whose husband purchased it for her for their 25th wedding anniversary after she fell in love with it - used it sparingly through the years, traveling just 6,400 miles until July 1976, at which point it was mostly used for shows. When she was 85, the original owner decided to sell the car, which was always garage-kept and well cared for - and it shows. This unrestored survivor is still wearing its original Dunlop SP whitewall radial tires, original interior that still smells like new, many original tags, factory chalk marks, paint dabs, original spark plug wires, original Oregon license plates and dealership frames and many original components throughout. This XKE roadster is optioned as listed on the original Window Sticker with a base cost of $5,803 and optional accessories, including chrome wire wheels for $165, whitewall tires for $36, radio for $230, and delivery, prep and handling for $125, leaving a total suggested retail price of $6,359. It is powered by its original matching-numbers 4.2-liter 6-cylinder engine mated to its matching-numbers 4-speed manual transmission, and also has its original AM-SW-FM Phillips radio, telescopic steering column and 4-wheel disc brakes.
Sold Price $176,000.

Sold at Barrett-Jackson 2019 AZ sale for $160k hammer plus commission. This dark blue on this car was metallic, but not the same as the earlier Opalescent Dark Blue. Did not know such a color was available.
