Owner: Hans Brevoord

Since 2000 I am owner of XKE.Bought it in just restored condition but as paint began to show bubbles after about 3 years it was restored big time to concours condition in 2006.
We spend every summer (4 months) in Normandy and take the E with us for day trips. Never let us down so far (knocking on the wheel)
Maintenance and technical care are taken care of by myself.
Car runs about 10.000 miles every year. Was originally US specs but later car went to Switzerland where the swiss owner did the half baked restoration.
I bought the car in Holland so that gives it a rather international history. I reconverted the car to european specs (rear axle ratio, 3 SU carbs, KM speedometer and jettisoned the side marker lights.
I should welcome email contact to xchange experiences.

We bought this car from a classic car dealer in Holland in the year 2000. Car had been imported recently from Switzerland where it had been "restored" to be an optical stunner. We fell in love with it and we happily traded in our Triumph TR250. But as beauty is known to be skin deep only, the first rusty signs of a mediocre restoration job became visible in 2006.
As we had enjoyed driving the E very much we decided to have it restored big time by real specialists (in Holland) and a beautiful job they made of it indeed! The original colour (pale primrose) was altered to opalescent light blue/silver and the top is now dark blue .(as is the later added factory hardtop) The US specs were changed to European (the twin Zenith Strombergs made place for the triple SU carbs; side lights on fenders were removed; the speedometer was changed to the Km/H one and the rear axle was exchanged for one having 3.06:1 ratio. So the car now has genuine European specifications like the ones sold on the continental market (LHD) in 1970
Every year the car accompanies us to France where we spend the summer months and driving it along the beautiful winding french roads is an everlasting delight! An added dimension to that joy is the way the French respond to seeing this car. It is a real rare bird to them and they express their appreciation of its appearance very exuberantly!
Every year the car is driven about 10.000 miles (eight years by now) and so far (touching wood) it has never let us down(even Mr. Lucas has so far been very benign!)
I promised myself to watch my good health like a hawk so that I can enjoy driving the E for as long as I can climb into and out of it with grace and dignity (am 71 yrs now). By the looks of things right now I can bank on quite a few years of wonderful motoring (on fossile fuel) yet!

We bought the car from a dutch classic car dealer close to the German boarder in summer 2011. 2012 is the first season for us to use it, as soon as smal ajustments are ready. Seeing the car and to fell into love was just one second! Looking forward to a sunny season!
