Barrett-Jackson auction, Scottsdale, AZ 1/16/1998 lot #625. Sports Car Market report reads:

"Chrome wire wheels. 1 of the first 386 LHD E-Types with outside latches and welded louvres. An older restoration to a high standard, showing few miles but with a fresh engine that brings the whole restoration into question."

In January of 1987 875304 was located in Pennsylvania. It was reportedly in the hands of its fourth owner, and still retained its original engine, transmission, and body. It was advertised for sale in "restored" condition

I purchased this car in 1980 and it was a basket case. I owned it/it owned me as I restored it and sold it in late 1989 or early 1990. The car was always a PA car. I sold it to a doctor in Kitanning PA. I was contacted sometime in 2003 by a gentleman in Houston who had just purchased it at auction as an original Arizona car. The car was originally BRG with black interior. I took MANY photos of the restoration that went to the doctor. I guess tha photos were "lost" when the car was re-born in AZ. Write me if you want more details. Dan

A Rare, Fully Restored Flat Floor External Bonnet Latch Example
The example presented here is the 304th Jaguar built of the original 500 Series I E-Types. It has the coveted flat floors, external bonnet latches, and welded hood louvers that define the very early cars. Of all early Jaguars, these are unquestionably the most desirable of the series. The example offered here was built on July 27, 1961 and delivered new to Miami Springs, Florida. According to the Jaguar Cars Inc. historical paperwork it was configured just as it is today save for the original exterior color being dark green.

The current private owner purchased the Jaguar several years ago with the intent of driving and enjoying the E-Type. The engine was fully rebuilt by a marque specialist in 2003 at a cost exceeding $9,000 and the car has traveled 4,000 miles flawlessly since that time and has participated in several rallies including the Great American Race. Additionally, the entire main dash harness was replaced and an updated radiator and cooling fan were added. This is a car that can be driven and enjoyed just as it has by its motoring enthusiast owner.
