This Series 1 E-Type is in original condition. This car was built at the end of October 1961 (production began in August 1961 in Coventry) and was delivered new in November 1961. Its chassis number 875560 indicates that it is a roadster (prefix 87), the 560th left-hand drive built. It was first registered in Brussels, then was exported to Niamey in Niger in 1978. Its engine bears the reference R 1720-8, the 1,720th product in version 3.8 Litre, compression ratio 8 to 1. The car has therefore numbers matching factory reports
and its body number is 1762, according to the registration document.
Originally the colour of the car was Gun Metal, it is now navy blue.
It is coming with its hardtop. It is featured in the latest documentary film by Jean Rouch, famous French director and ethnologist, “Le reve plus fort que la mort”, shot in Niamey in 2002. Various photos and images from the film with this Jaguar provided. The engine has been serviced by a mechanic and has been started regularly every week, even during immobilization period, until 2011. In September 2014, this E-Type has been imported to France, cleared customs, but having not been driven in France, there is no registration document.
The E-Type Jaguar, especially the Series 1 Flat-Floor, is undoubtedly one of the ten most beautiful cars of all time. This authentic car deserves special attention and will make a unique restoration base for the enthusiast collector.
