Car listed on EBay:
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Description (revised)
Item Specifics: Jaguar : XKE
1962 3.8 E-TYPE LH Flat floor FHC
Miles: 50 Doors: 2 doors
Transmission: Manual Interior: Beige/Tan
Engine: 6 - Cyl. Year: 1962
VIN Number: 885391 Exterior: Other Color
Vehicle Description: This is car #885391, The 391st flat floor FHC ever built and the 6th one ever built with the Bonnett latches mounted inside the car. It is also one of 3 or 4 ever to come from the factory painted opalesent Bronze Metalic in 1962, It was a special order color for this car from Jaguar. It is a California car, No rust. It is 98% complete as the raido and console frame it mounts into are missing, It also needs a dash board. Everything else it complete from new door and window rubber still in wrappers to new crome parts from Jaguar, What isn't new is in great shape. All the glass is in perfect shape and the car as a whole has no rust or dents as the pictures show. What you don't see in the pictures is in safe storage ready to be refurbished or are already in great shape and being stored and ready to go back onto the car. It has been parked since 1970 with only 50.942 original miles on it and it is as fresh as the day it was parked as far as the internal workings of the engine. All the numbers match on this car as well. The bonnett is also a Jaguar part bought new for this car.I really don't want to sell it but I don't have the funds to restore it, Thus I am looking for a good home for this rare beauty. Please don't bid on this car if you plan on parting it out as it is a very significant car in the evolution of the Jaguar E-type being the 391st one ever built and the 6th one ever to have the inside bonnett latches and only one of 3 or 4 ever painted by Jaguar the opalesent bronze metalic in 1962. A Very rare car and one of only a hand full of LH Flat floor FHC cars left in the world from this era. This car has a clear title but no pink slip, I have a legal bill of sale furnished by the State of California's Department Of Motor Vehicles from the last owner and a letter from the person who sold it to him as well. Try and follow me here if you will. I bought it from a person who bought it from a lady whos husband had bought it and had begun the restoration process, Shortly there after he past away. She dose not know where he kept the pink slip but wanted the car gone. It was just in her way. She sold it to the last owner who in turn sold it to me. This car has been off the DMV books for some 30-40 years as it has not been registered since 1970. As far as the DMV is concerned, This car dose not exist. It is out of the system.
Vehicle Condition: This car is in need of a full restoration as it has been parked for 41 years. There is no rust or dents on this car and the doors and back hatch as well as the bonnett all line up as it was when it was sold new. ( no sagging of doors or anything else that latches or pivots. ) I also have spare Bonnett parts that will go with this car to the buyer.I was amazed at just how complete and straight and rust free this car was when I bought it last year.

Relisted on ebay item# 2425469151 7/27/03
Sellers comment:
To all those who have bid on this car in the past two weeks. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by my pulling the ad. It was pulled due to errors in the first ad and the second time was due to questins of the title on this car. I have since contacted the Department of motor vechicles here in California to resolve that issue. Title can be obtained by filling out form # (REG 343/31 Verification of Vechicle)...And Form # (REG 256,section A.)

Nice early E-type project car! Not sure the claim that the car was the 6th built with inside bonnet latches is correct. I own 1961 E-type FHC 885117; it has inside bonnet latches. To my knowledge, Jaguar released only 18 outside latch coupes from the factory; all others had inside latches. You may be confusing data on your E-type FHC with statistics on early roadsters.
