Ebay item 5/26/06

Current bid $15,647 reserve not met 5 bids, 9 days left in auction. Vin on this car is J62885781

Sellers description:
an extremely nice Jaguar E-Type 3.8 FHC. It is a rare, early dropped floor car that was beautifully restored about 12 years ago. It was carefully used until about 2 years ago when the owner passed away. It was then garaged and occasionally driven by a friend of the family until recently when it was sent in for service. On top of being serviced a complete new Bell stainless exhaust system was installed. This car is not only beautiful but it runs and drives extremely well.

If you are in the market for an early coupe, that is ready to drive and enjoy but looks good enough for the occasional show then this is your car.

BODY & EXTERIOR - This car is literally stunning. The paint on this car is beautiful. It has stood the test of time and looks fabulous. It was done to a high standard considering the intent was to drive this car. Equally as important is that this was a solid rust free car. The floor pans, battery box and trunk floor are all original, solid and straight. I did notice a couple wrinkles in the leading edge of one of the dropped floors but this is minor. Even the door bottoms are solid and straight as evidenced by one of the photos below. The body is very straight and the panel gaps are very good demonstrating the quality and care taken when this car was refinished. There are some very minor flaws from use such as a few minor chips to the nose but overall this is a beautiful car.
The chrome is far to good to be original. It would appear that bumpers, window frames and trim have all been done as it is all very nice and unmarked. Glass is all very nice and the rubber glass and door seals are soft and pliable with out any damage that I can see. Tires are Vredstein Sprint STs that have about 90% tread remaining and the wheels are beautiful and have obviously been replaced.

MECHANICALS - At the time of the restoration the engine was completely rebuilt. Mild performance camshafts were fitted and this car runs very strong. It has stunning acceleration and torque, that belies the small displacement (aprox 250 ci.). This car has been fitted with the later, better shifting 4 speed full syncro gearbox. Other than this it appears to be a numbers matching car. I did notice the serial number stamped on the front picture frame as well. The engine compartment is fairly clean and in order but could benefit from minor detailing if you wish to show the car.

The undercarriage of this car indicates careful use without abuse. The pans appear solid and original and there is no indication that this car has ever been rusty. This car has been used so there is road film buildup but that is about it. Looks & Runs Fantastic

INTERIOR - The interior of this car is excellent as well. Carpets are excellent having been covered with the thick stock rubber matt since installation. Seats and door panels appear new as well other than the drivers seat bolster. It has worn through for a small area along the bolster where the leather folds over the sharp edge of the seat frame. It is a small area. If it weren't for this the seats could nearly pass for new.

The dash appears complete, beautiful and original other than the Eclipse AM/FM CD. Gauges are extremely nice The steering wheel is a wood Moto-Lita and it has modern seat belts installed. The headliner is extremely nice as is the remainder of the interior trim. Only missing pieces that I have noticed are the small leaping cat on the ashtray lid and the cover for the hatch catch. Overall this is a very nice interior with few flaws and very little wear.
Beautiful Stock Interior with Moto Lita Wheel

Beautiful Driving, Rust Free, Matching Numbers Car

Opening bid $44,950 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Exceptionally elegant E-Type 3.8 liter coupe. This Jag is a very rare, early dropped floor model that was beautifully restored 16 years ago with the sole purpose of driving the car. This car has been garage stored and lovingly cared for.

BODY & EXTERIOR: This car is absolutely stunning and has withstood the test of time. Though there are a few almost imperceptible chips, the paint is so rich that we had difficulty taking pictures as the paint reflects like a mirror. Equally as important is that this is a solid rust free car. Floor pans, battery box, and trunk are all original, solid and straight. Even the door bottoms are straight; however there are a couple of negligible wrinkles in the leading edge of the dropped floors.

The body is also incredibly straight, with the panel gaps distinctly demonstrating the quality and care that was taken during restoration.

Though an outstanding embodiment of an E-Type Jag, it bears mentioning that this car is an almost 50 year old car and has been driven. The chrome is far too good to be original. It would appear that the bumpers, window frames and trim have all been redone as they are, for the most part, shiny and relatively unmarked. Glass is all very nice and rubber, glass, and door seals are soft and pliable without any damage. The wire wheels are impressive, and the tires are Vredstein Sprint STs and have about 90% tread remaining.

MECHANICALS:
At the time of restoration the engine was completely rebuilt. Mild performance camshafts were fitted and the car runs strong.

This Jag has stunning acceleration and torque, and contradicts the small engine (approximately 250 cubic inches) displacement. Vehicle has been fitted with the later, better shifting, 4-speed, full syncro gear box. Other than the transmission, it is a matching numbers car.

The engine compartment is fairly clean and in order, but could benefit from additional detailing if you wish to show the car. Although every time the car has been shown, it has placed.

Undercarriage indicates careful use and pans appear to be solid and original with no indication that the vehicle has ever been rusty.

INTERIOR:
The interior is outstanding as well. Carpeting is excellent and has been covered with thick, stock rubber floor mats for added protection. Seats and door panels present themselves as being new, as well as the driver and passenger seats. Dash is complete, beautiful, and original other than the Eclipse AM/FM CD player. Gauges are extremely nice, and the steering wheel is a Moto Lita wood wheel Overall, the interior has very few flaws and shows little wear.

All this, combined with a later and smoother shifting transmission, makes this a hard car to resist. By it, enjoy it, show it, drive it and you will still likely be rewarded at the other end. Owner holds the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Pedigree. Certificate number 11368.

NUMBERS:
Car – 885565
Body – V2085
Engine/Cylinder Head – R4491-9

Vehicle will come with owner’s manual and original lubrication chart. In addition, a Jaguar tool kit, jack, and knock-off hammer are included. Serviceable wheel and spare time are also included.
