This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was acquired by the seller in March 2023 as a non-running project after reportedly spending the previous three decades off the road. The car is finished in blue over blue leather upholstery and is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a louvered hood, and a Pioneer cassette stereo. The air conditioning components and power steering pump have been removed, and the removed components for the air conditioning, an alternator, a spare wire wheel, additional spare and removed parts, a tonneau cover, two top boots, hydraulic jacks, vehicle literature, and the knock-off wheel tools are included in the sale. This XKE roadster is now offered as a non-running project with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car wears faded blue paintwork and features a louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, a luggage rack, a dual exhaust system, and chrome bumpers. Various dents and paint blemishes, a crack in the windshield, chrome pitting, and soft top damage are visible. The rear window is missing, and rust penetration is noted in the floors, doors, rocker panels, trunk floor, and trunk lid.
Polished 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear older 205/75 steel belted radial tires. The seller notes that the power steering pump has been removed, and the four-wheel disc brake system will need to be overhauled before driving.
The cabin houses high-back bucket seats trimmed in blue leather that is worn and cracked. The car is equipped with a Pioneer cassette stereo flanked by aftermarket speakers as well as a locking glove box, a central armrest, and a height-adjustable rearview mirror. Air conditioning components have been removed and are included in the sale, and the seller notes the passenger door lock is not functioning.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 83k miles.
The non-running 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes the ignition switch is not working but the engine will turn over by hand. Rust is noted in the fuel tank, and the seller states the clutch system will require overhauling before driving.
The engine stamping 7R9458-9 corresponds with the engine number on the chassis tag.
The knock-off wheel removal tools, a spare wheel, hydraulic jacks, spare and removed parts, a tonneau cover, two top boots, and vehicle literature are included in the sale.
