This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Signal Red over burgundy leather, and features include four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a cassette stereo, and air conditioning. The seller purchased the car in 2023, and subsequent work reportedly included replacing the wheels and tires as well as rebuilding the carburetors, alternator, and fuel pressure regulator. This Series III E-Type is now offered with a factory jack and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in Signal Red and features uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a power antenna. Some of the seals are dry-rotted, and an area of rust on the lower bodywork.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels with knock-off spinners and 205/70 Ironman tires were installed under current ownership. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. A power steering fluid leak is noted, and the brakes require servicing according to the seller.
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a reach bench upholstered in Burgundy leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Interior amenities include a cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning. The heater controls are stuck, and the headliner is damaged.
The steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer is nonfunctional, and total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. Rebuilds of the carburetors, alternator, and fuel pressure regulator were carried out in 2024 according to the seller, who notes that the EGR system has been deleted and the exhaust system needs to be replaced. The radiator fans are hard-wired.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
