This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster underwent a color change to Carmen Red as part of an early-2000s refurbishment before being acquired by the current owner in 2008. The car wears a tan soft top over tan leather upholstery and features Series I enclosed headlights and toggle-style interior switchgear. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, low-back bucket seats are accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel as well as a Blaupunkt radio and a Smiths heater. Additional details include a limited-slip differential, power-assisted disc brakes, and 15″ wire-spoke wheels. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Minnesota title in their name.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. Factory finished in black, this example underwent a color change to Carmen Red as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. The car wears a tan soft top and top boot, and further details include a louvered clamshell hood, a bullet-style driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual central exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio and a Smiths heater along with a sliding rearview mirror and hand-crank windows.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a black vinyl–trimmed dash housing a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer as well as centrally mounted auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six featured triple SU carburetors from the factory and was rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory identification numbers and colors along with a June 1966 date of manufacture.
Chassis number 1E13231 is shown above. The sequence is listed as the VIN on the current Minnesota title prepended with a “J67” prefix.
