Jaguar E Type S1 Roadster, chassis 1E15145. Manufactured on 20 March and dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 11 April 1967, it has a 4.2 litre engine with 3 SU carburettors finished in Pale Primrose with Black leather interior. It was brought to Finland from Florida in the late 1990s and registered as a historic vehicle in 2000.The current owner bought the car 24 years ago in November 2001. He used the car every summer until 2020 when he decided to commission Grips Garage to undertake a complete restoration.
The car was dismantled, the body sandblasted to bare metal and any damage repaired. The front frame was renewed and the body painted in the original colour of Pale Primrose. During restoration as much of the original chrome was preserved and restored as possible. The suspension and steering were renewed and a new exhaust system fitted. The engine, with matching numbers cylinder head and replacement block, was completely rebuilt with new parts as necessary, as were the SU carburettors and four speed manual suspension.
The interior was retrimmed with new carpets, retaining the original seats and door cards. A new mohair black soft top was fitted. The car comes with a Jaguar Heritage certificate and a full documented photographic record of the restoration. The restoration is to an impressive standard, the engine runs smoothly, the steering is precise and the transmission flawless. Great to drive , this superb E Type is ready to be enjoyed.
