    Ebay item 7/26/13
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Jaguar-E-Type-/111127299269
Car has a buy it now price of $75,880 for 6 days.

    Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Convertible 4.2L with a 4-speed done in Primrose Yellow with black leather. This XKE is in very nice shape has a newer top and has had a re-paint about 4 years ago that still looks very clean. Has the stock knock off wire wheels with Red line tires that are all in good shape also has a set of extra set of wire wheel center caps see photos. The inside of the car looks very nice and needs very little TLC to look as good as the outside of this XKE has aftermarket AM/FM tape player but other than that all stock inside. All the body lines are very strait and look good all the windows go up and down fine and have no chips in them. The vin number off the car is 1F16206 and shows 87,190 miles but the car will be sold Exempt on miles as it is over 20 years old and is hard to know if they are true miles. Under the hood the car looks as clean with all the stock parts will start the first time and sounds good a little smoke on start up but all older Jaguars will do this. The gear box fills good and all the gears are easy to get in to. This is a very good car to take out on the weekends to shows or to put in your collection as it will only go up in price over time.

Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

    Lot #243036

This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster left the factory finished in Primrose Yellow with a black soft top over black leather trim and was repainted under previous ownership. The car was acquired by the seller in 2021 and subsequently underwent suspension and brake overhauls as well as rebuilds of the dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, installation of a 123ignition distributor, and additional mechanical and cosmetic sorting detailed below. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes a black soft top, a stainless-steel exhaust system, Wilwood front brake calipers, and 15″ wire-spoke wheels. This Series 1.5 XKE roadster is now offered with vehicle literature, service records from current ownership, and a duplicate Florida title in the seller’s name.

This example left the factory finished in Pale Primrose and was repainted several years ago under previous ownership. The windshield was replaced in 2023, and a replacement black soft top with a zip-out rear window was installed in 2024, along with a matching boot cover. The seller notes that various exterior bulbs have been replaced with LED units and that the soft top frame was powder-coated black in 2024. Further details include a louvered clamshell hood, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and wraparound chrome bumpers.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, while braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Wilwood front brake calipers were added, and the inboard-mounted rear units were rebuilt as part of a 2023 brake and suspension overhaul, which also included the installation of outboard brake bleeders and a replacement brake master cylinder, booster, brake hoses, brake rotors, front wheel bearings, and suspension bushings.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated dash, center console, and door panels. Interior appointments include an AM/FM cassette stereo, a heater, a sliding rearview mirror, and Coco-style floor mats. The seller notes that sound-deadening material has been laid below the carpets, and the interior bulbs have been replaced with LED units.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six featured dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors from the factory and was rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Work in 2021 involved rebuilding the carburetors and alternator as well as replacing the water pump, installing a 123ignition electronic distributor, and retrofitting a spin-on oil filter adapter. The engine mounts were replaced in 2022, a replacement fuel pump and sender were installed in 2024, while the idler pulley was changed in 2025. The seller tells us that adjustable jets were added to the carburetors when they were rebilt.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission. The clutch cylinder was rebuilt, the transmission mounts were replaced, and a heatshield was fitted to the transmission tunnel in 2021, while work in 2023 involved rebuilding the differential. The car is further equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system.

A collection of vehicle literature and recent service records is included in the sale. A screenshot of a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate for chassis 1E16206 lists the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
