This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster was built on March 12, 1968 and delivered new to the US via Jaguar Cars of New York. A refurbishment commenced in the late 1980s and was completed approximately a decade later, and the car was acquired by the current owner in 2017. Work since 2023 has included rebuilding the carburetors and distributor as well as replacing the front brake calipers, cylinder head gasket, fuel pump, clutch slave cylinder, and spark plugs. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in British Racing Green over Suede Green leather. Equipment includes a black soft top, a soft top boot, sealed-beam open headlights, fog lights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and a Retrosound Bluetooth radio. This XKE Series 1.5 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

The Series 1.5 E-Types featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained Series I equipment such as a small front grille opening, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, and taillights situated above the split rear bumper. This example came finished from the factory in British Racing Green and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a soft top boot, sealed-beam open headlights, fog lights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and were mounted with 205/70 General Altimax tires in 2022. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the front calipers and brake hoses were replaced in 2023.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Suede Green leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a Retrosound Bluetooth stereo, and a heater. The rocker switches were replaced in 2025 along with the fuse holders.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 6,500 miles. Approximately 7,500 miles were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. The carburetors were rebuilt in 2023 and the distributor was rebuilt with a custom curve and vacuum advance in 2026. Additional work this year included performing a valve adjustment and replacing the cylinder head gasket, left side core plugs, fuel pump, and spark plugs.

Engine stamping 7E16513-9 and a corresponding number is listed on the chassis plate and Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors and equipment as well as a build date of March 12, 1968.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
