This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster is finished in white over Suede Green leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan soft top, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. This XKE Series 1.5 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2008 and is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with a clean Florida title.
The car is finished in white and has been repainted. A replacement tan soft top and tonneau cover were installed in 2018, and a luggage rack is mounted on the decklid. There are dents in the passenger door and above the front grille.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and were mounted with 185R15 Coker Classic tires in 2015. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller notes that the brakes squeal and are slow to release from a stop.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Suede Green leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. There is wear on leather surfaces.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 59k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. A valve adjustment was performed in 2018, and work in 2015 involved overhauling the carburetors and replacing the fuel tank, pump, and level sending unit.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2015.
