Sold by Wrightson Automotive of Bampton in March 2026. Abbreviated seller's description below.
www.wrightsonautomotive.com/sold/jaguar-e-type-series-1-for-sale
This Series 1 4.2 litre Fixed Head Coupe was ordered in Carmen Red with Black interior, a specification it retains. It was delivered to the Jaguar distributor in Leeds. The early history is unknown but the original log book shows it was still in Leeds in 1974. In 1975 it was briefly owned by Eagle Motors in Wakefield. It then went to Castleford, then to Pontefract in 1976. The history file does not record then record the ownership history until 2009 when it passed to Scunthorpe.
The present owner acquired the car in 2010 and during his ownership it has been maintained by Peter Chambers Automotive of Tewkesbury. He rebuilt the engine at 76,907 miles in 2010. This includes a full strip down with new bearings and piston rings fitted, big ends reground and small ends rearmed. In 2011 the steering and suspension were stripped and rebuilt. In 2012 the rear sub frame was stripped and rebuilt. In 2013 the speed drive and cable were replaced. In 2023 it received a full check over and service.
It is presented in its original colours, the interior is original with lovely mellowing patina. The chassis stamping matches the data plate and heritage certificate on file, as do the engine and cylinder head. On the road this is a truly wonderful example.
