This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Old English White over Biscuit leather, the car is equipped with enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, Koni shocks, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. The car underwent a refurbishment in the early 2010s and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered with the owner’s manual and an Idaho title.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is finished in Old English White and was repainted in 2010, and the floor panels were also replaced at that time. Additional equipment includes enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 195/65 Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Koni shocks have been installed.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in Biscuit leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include Simpson latch-and-link lap belts, black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and an AM/FM radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and is linked with a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The engine, transmission, and differential were rebuilt in the 1980s, and equipment includes a high-output Delco alternator, Pertronix electronic ignition, and a high-power cooling fan.

Lot #246170
This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is believed to have undergone rebuilds of its 4.2-liter inline-six, four-speed manual transmission, and limited-slip differential in the 1980s before a repaint and interior re-trim were completed circa 2010. Chassis 1E30929 was acquired by the seller on BaT in October 2024 and later received over $9k of work by Motorcars Ltd of Houston, Texas, in April 2025 including repairs on the lower right-rear corner, an engine tune-up, and more as detailed below. Finished in Old English White over Biscuit leather, the car has 15″ wire-spoke wheels coupled with Koni shocks and power-assisted disc brakes. Further details include a louvered clamshell hood, enclosed headlights, and wraparound chrome bumpers along with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a push-button Blaupunkt radio, and Simpson lap belts. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered with an owner’s manual, recent service records, and a Texas title in the seller’s name.
Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights as well as taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example left the factory finished in Cream and was repainted in Old English White in 2010. The seller notes that the right-rear corner underwent paintwork and a replacement backup light lens and right-side license plate light were installed in April 2025 after the car was bumped at a stop light under their ownership.
The car features a louvered clamshell hood, enclosed headlights, fender-mounted side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, wraparound chrome bumpers, and a side-hinged rear hatch. Union Jack emblems are affixed to the hood aft of the front wheels.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 195/65 Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires. The car rides on Koni shocks, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The ball joint and tie-rod boots were replaced in April 2025 along with the rear trailing arms.
The bucket seats were reupholstered in Biscuit leather under previous ownership, and color-coordinated trim extends to the center console as well as the door panels. The seats are paired with Simpson latch-and-link belts, and a push-button Blaupunkt radio is connected to aftermarket speakers. Further interior appointments include a black vinyl–trimmed dash, a cabin heater, and hand-crank windows. The floor panels were reportedly replaced in 2010.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock along with centrally mounted auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, less than 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was equipped from the factory with triple SU carburetors and rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in the 1980s. It is equipped with a PerTronix electronic ignition, a high-output Delco alternator, a high-power cooling fan, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Work in April 2025 involved the following:
Polishing the intake manifold and valve covers
Changing the valve cover gaskets
Re-torquing the cylinder head
Replacing the radiator hoses
Changing the spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap, and rotor
Performing a tune-up
Repairing the oil pan drain plug
Replacing the engine mounts
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, both of which are believed to have been rebuilt at the same time as the engine.
The current Texas title carries a “VIN Certification Waived” notation under the Remark(s) section.
