This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was acquired new by the current owner through Jaguar of New York in June 1967 and was relocated to California in 1968. Repainted in its factory shade of Opalescent Dark Green circa 2015, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with triple SU carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is further equipped with enclosed headlights, triple windshield wipers, and 15″ wire-spoke wheels as well as a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM radio, and black leather interior upholstery. Now showing 44k miles, this XKE Series I coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner out of Coronado, California, with a 1967-dated sales invoice, manufacturer’s literature, service records, tools, spare parts, and a California title in the owner’s name.

Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights as well as taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example was specified new in Opalescent Dark Green and was repainted circa 2015. A louvered clamshell hood, enclosed headlights, triple windshield wipers, dual exhaust outlets, and wraparound chrome bumpers with tubular guards are further details. The mirrors were removed at the time of the paintwork and are included in the sale.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are wrapped with 205/70 Firestone Winterforce 2 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The wheels were serviced and the tires were mounted by California Wire Wheel in November 2025.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated dash, center console, door panels, and carpets. The seats are paired with lap belts, and a Jaguar-branded AM radio is installed in the center stack. The heater blower fan was replaced in December 2025.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, all of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. An aluminum radiator was added and the rearmost carburetor was repaired in April 2023, the battery was replaced and the alternator was repaired in November 2024, and the fuel pump was changed in March 2025.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Rust is visible on various underside components.

An invoice from Jaguar of New York dated June 9, 1967, lists factory colors, equipment, and identification numbers along with a total price of $6,082.50.

An October 1996–issued New Jersey title notes issuance of one duplicate title, and the current California title was issued in October 2025.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
