This 1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1.5 Fixed Head Coupe is a rare one owner example, powered by Jaguar's celebrated 4.2 liter dual overhead cam XK inline six. It is fitted with triple SU carburetors in the manner of European market cars rather than the twin Zenith Stromberg setup used on US deliveries. Power goes through an all synchromesh four speed manual gearbox, and the car rides on Jaguar's fully independent suspension with four wheel servo assisted disc brakes, inboard at the rear. Chassis number 1E34835 was first titled in January 1969 and was originally equipped with air conditioning, radio and heater, as recorded on its original 1969 financing papers. It is finished in British Racing Green over a biscuit interior and rides on 72 spoke stainless wire wheels.
This example stayed with its original owner for more than five decades. After starting out in Pennsylvania, it spent most of the 1970s as a regularly driven car on the San Francisco Peninsula, with invoices from local British car specialists going back to 1970. The car later returned east, where a Jaguar specialist restored it in 1994 and 1995 at a cost of roughly $27,000. That work included a rebuilt rear axle, complete brake and clutch hydraulics, a front suspension and steering rebuild, replated chrome, a refreshed engine, new exhaust manifolds with a stainless crossover, and a fully redone interior.
A Connecticut vintage specialist looked after the car from 2000 through 2013. In 2014 and 2015 it received a thorough mechanical sorting focused on preservation, totaling about $23,600. That work covered the differential, steering, rear suspension bushings, cooling, fuel, exhaust, electrical and charging systems, new radial tires, door seals and window scrapers, clutch hydraulics and underbody corrosion protection. The stated goal was a reliable driver that preserves originality wherever practical. Compression and leakdown testing at that time showed a healthy engine, and the car was serviced again in 2018 with a new alternator, regulator and charging components. The accompanying dossier is extensive: the original 1969 Pennsylvania title and financing note, the 1995 title, and service invoices spanning nearly fifty years. This well documented 1968 E Type Series 1.5 Coupe, with a continuous ownership story from new, is a rare chance to own one of the most iconic sports cars ever built, ready for touring, club events and spirited weekend drives.
