1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Fixed Head Coupé, retaining its matching-numbers engine and presented in Jaguar Dark Blue with a black leather interior

Fresh to market following an exceptional 51 years of considered ownership, having been acquired by its present custodian in 1975

The subject of an extensive rebuild some years ago, incorporating numerous replacement panels, sills, arches, rear quarters, boot floor and repairs to the bulkhead

Importantly, the structural repairs were carried out using the traditional and time-proven method of lead loading, reflecting the considered approach taken throughout the rebuild

Further expenditure and refurbishment over the years has included a replacement fuel tank, wheel cylinders, radiator core, bumper sections, replacement windscreen and servo overhaul

The running gear has also received attention, with new springs and shock absorbers, a fully overhauled gearbox and a new set of four chrome wire wheels, fitted with new tyres as required

The interior has been progressively refreshed where necessary, with continual maintenance throughout the current owner's remarkable period of custodianship

An increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a matching-numbers Series I 2+2, offered after more than five decades with its current custodian and providing an interesting basis for further enjoyment or sympathetic development

Your inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
