should I buy it for 6K?? Its rusty!

Be very careful, rust is the #1 enemy. Very, very costly to repair. If you're a body guy and know you can do it yourself then maybe. That said, if its complete its gotta be worth $6 in parts. A delimma.

Sellers description:
1967 (RARE) Jaguar XKE Series 1 Coupe 2+2 Blue / Black Leather Interior Buy in confidence - Licensed / Bonded Wholesale Broker - Jaguar Club Member - This is a very rare and sought after 1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Coupe 2+2 - Blue / Black. The car is a 1967 Series1 car uncovered headlights but you can buy Covered headlights and change them for that classic Jaguar look. This car has been owned by the same person since 1982. This is a 2 Owner car. It came from Atlanta ,Georgia. This car has not been restored. The Series 1 are the most sought after and are drying up. The car ID# is as follows: Chassis No: 1E 77473BW Body No: 4E 53358 Engine No: 7E53442-9 Gear Box: EJ 19810 The car has a Georgia Registration (Good for Export). The car runs and drives. It is very complete and needs some minor TLC. This Jaguar needs a couple of things. The car needs some minor body work. The car needs to be painted. There is some rust in the passanger side door. The floor pans are very Solid. The Interior is in really good shape and needs some new carpet and has a couple of minor flaws. The engine has compression and we had it turned over and does run. The brakes are weak. We drained all the old gas out of the tank and put fresh gas in. The head matches the ID Plate. The car comes with all the chrome that is in really nice shape. This car is a great example of a very nice driver.

Matching Numbers & Meticulously Restored

There are beautiful cars, and then there are E-Types. And then, just occasionally, there’s one that takes the breath away. A car rebuilt with such obsessive care and passion that it becomes something more than a classic. This 1967 Series 1 in Opalescent Silver Grey with red leather interior, is that kind of E-Type.

Historically rare, a survivor

This left-hand drive was one of them. Originally dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 24 May 1967. Our vendor acquired this Jaguar from Atlanta. We understand it spent decades benefitting from the drier American climate before being imported to the UK nine years ago by our vendor, who remains its only UK keeper.

It comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming matching numbers for chassis, engine and body.

Restoration & Condition

To describe this as restored would be an understatement. This E-Type has undergone a full, multi-year, uncompromising rebuild at an estimated cost exceeding £30,000, and it shows.

We have access to an archive link that shows chronologically the detailed stages, beginning with the arrival of the Jaguar in the UK, through the detailed build stages, to completion. On request, we can make this available to bidders.

Outside

The exterior of this Series 1 is simply magnificent. The shell was acid-dipped, professionally lead-loaded and treated to an expert respray by marque specialists E-Type UK. That process alone cost around £9,000.

After being completely stripped, including removal of the front end, the shell was acid-dipped

The body received new panels where it was not expedient to save the originals

Highlights include, wheel arches, door skins, bonnet sections, nearside front floor section

Then professionally lead-loaded, expertly aligned and repainted by marque specialists E-Type UK

That paintwork in its period correct Opalescent Silver Grey is nothing short of spectacular. The original colour was Opalescent Silver Blue

Inside

The red leather interior provides a dramatic and classic contrast to the excellent exterior. From the wood-rimmed steering wheel to the fully detailed switchgear, the cabin is both luxurious and authentically correct.

Before any work started, interior of the body was lined in high quality Dynamat acoustic and heat control insulation

The second item to be installed was a new, full wiring loom

The interior was entirely renewed

The images speak for themselves

The seat covers, red carpets, red leather upholstery, headlining, beautiful dash and switchgear are visually very striking

The boot area is neatly trimmed, the spare wheel is present

This E-type comes with two sets of keys and an A4 folder brimming with invoices, receipts, and records

Mechanicals

The heart of any E-type are the legendary mechanicals. Beneath that long, beautifully restored bonnet lies Jaguar’s fabulous 4.2-litre XK straight-six engine with an auto gearbox supported by Jaguar’s ground breaking running gear.

All the mechanical items were removed

Items like the engine and gearbox went into storage for around a year until it was time to work on them

The original 4.2-litre XK straight-six was fully stripped, inspected and found to be in good order. Then reassembled with any bearings, gaskets and seals being replaced

The engine bay is stunning, detailed to a prize worthy standard

The factory correct gold-finished cylinder heads, polished alloy rocker covers and an immaculate front subframe and suspension setup look very good

The polished exhaust headers add a flourish to the final look

A similar process was applied to the transmission. The auto box had full recon with new bearings , new seals and a new filter, etc.

As you can tell from the images, the whole IRS has been rebuilt

The diff was taken apart refurbed with all new bearings and seals

The brakes have been uprated and all suspension components refurbished, with new bushes and bearings

Importantly all the items have been electro-nickel plated for corrosion resistance and show finish.

A new stainless steel exhaust was fitted, alongside new fuel and brake lines, new filters and ignition components, and a rebuilt cooling system.

The wire wheels have been powder-coated, fitted with new tyres

All the brightwork has been re-chromed, bumpers, grilles, trims, all refurbished to a high standard.

The restoration took four years in total.
