1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 Roadster

72,952 Miles (Indicated)

LHDmanual

Langbroek, Netherlands

VIN 1R10478

Exterior Primrose Yellow

Interior Black

A highly desirable open-top classic British sports car, this left-hand-drive Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 Roadster combines the marque's iconic styling with the smooth torque and character of the legendary XK straight-six.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre inline-six, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

Originally delivered new in California, the car was later imported to the Netherlands, where it has been owned by the seller for the last three and a half years.

The odometer indicates 72,952 miles, though this is not warranted.

Equipment and features

This example is finished in the distinctive shade of Primrose Yellow with a contrasting black soft-top roof, over a black leather-trimmed interior, punctuated by chrome trim.

It rides on a set of 15-inch chromed cross-spoke wire wheels with knock-offs, fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres.

Equipment includes a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, Smiths gauges, a wooden gear knob, an analogue clock, heater and ventilation controls, and a Roadstar stereo.

The engine has been upgraded with a rare set of period-style Weber 45 DCOE 9 triple carburettors manufactured in Bologna, Italy, together with a 123 electronic ignition system and electric cooling fans to improve reliability and drivability.

The car is accompanied by its service history documentation and a Jaguar Heritage Trust record trace certificate.

Condition

Specific notes from the seller include: the boot was repainted following the removal of a luggage rack. The car is otherwise reported to retain its original paintwork, which displays numerous stone chips and age-related blemishes throughout.

The black leather seats display light discolouration consistent with age and use.

Service history

The last maintenance was carried out in April 2026 at an indicated 72,800 miles by Legacy Motors, comprising an engine oil and filter service, replacement filters, a new oil pressure sensor, temperature sensor, ignition lead set, spark plugs, and fresh coolant.

In October 2025, at an indicated 72,698 miles, the car received a major service, with the ignition and carburettors adjusted by technicians at Jagpoint Maintenance.

The seller reports that in 2022, at an indicated 71,000 miles, the car received a comprehensive service and preparation before delivery.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
