www.iconicauctioneers.com/1970-jaguar-e-type-series-2-fhc-rec15581-10-nec-1125

Auction description:

The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025

Lot Number: 744

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 FHC - One Owner, 10,534 Miles

A simply remarkable opportunity. Carefully stored for 52 years since 1973, one owner from new, original paperwork and registration number and just 10,534 miles.

ESTIMATE: £35,000 - £40,000

Registration Number TON 85

MOT Expiry Exempt

Chassis Number 1R20766

Engine Number 7R11397

Transmission Manual

Body Colour Opalescent Silver Blue

Supplied new on 17/04/1970 by Harry Thomas Ltd of Dewsbury for an all-inclusive sum of £2,710.14s 2d to its one and only registered keeper

Finished in Opalescent Silver Blue with a contrasting red leather interior

Specified from new with Sundym Glass, a laminated windscreen, heated rear screen, a radio and of course, an electric aerial

Remaining in dry storage since 1973, a period of some 52 years. The odometer shows a recorded mileage of just 10,534 that is stated to be true and correct

With little or no use during the E-Type's slumber, a degree of recommissioning will be required with the amount of work being dependant on the new custodian's plans for this rare and desirable Jaguar

It should be noted that no attempt has been made to start the Jaguar since removal from storage and that the windscreen has unfortunately cracked and will require replacement before returning to the road

Its distinctive original registration number, TON 85, will stay with the car and does form part of the sale

Supplied with its 'buff' logbook, dealer manuals, warranty docs, RAC paperwork etc. the original Metallifacture Jack and its tool roll

Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate this opportunity to be able to acquire a genuine one-owner, S2 FHC, with an incredibly low recorded mileage

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
