Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au 11 June 2026 asking AUD$149,990. The car is in Melbourne. www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/jaguar-e-type-1969/oag-ad-25933017/

Selling dealer’s description summarised: According to historical account from previous owner, this E-Type was dispatched / delivered on 20 June 1969 in New York and at some point in its life privately imported to Australia. The car remained in the care of current owner who completed specification works and continued to preserve the E-Type with great care. This car was owned for more than decades by a passionate collector of rare classic vehicles who passed away and then sold by his estate to current previous owner who has traded it in for another exotic collectable.

3.8 litre intake manifold from Series 1 XKE fitted to enable upgrade from two to three carburettors on this USA specification Series 2 E-type. SU carburettors would make a further improvement.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
