Christie's auction, London, England, 12/4/2001. Lot #39. Commermerative edition. Sports car market report:
Hard top. Claimed to be original paint—but being black, every stone chip was visible. Interior refurbished at some time with armrest marked. Dirty under-hood. Serious misfiring when run during viewing.

One of 31 commemorative E Types fitted with manual transmission. It was dispatched on 11 July 1974 to Byatts of Fenton, the Stoke on Trent Jaguar dealership. First registered with Stoke on Trent County Borough Council on 28 August 1974 and sold to Mr B Oakley of West Bromwich. He owned the car for 27 years from 1974 to 2001. The second owner instructed Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth to carry out a sympathetic refurbishment of the car in 2003.
The work involved dismantling the E Type and giving it a bare metal re-spray. The engine and gearbox were remove and the cylinder heads inspected to check the bores and valves. It received a full mechanical overhaul, the complete braking system was replaced and a stainless steel exhaust fitted. The front and rear suspension was removed and all components cleaned, tested and inspected before refitting. New tyres were fitted along with a new mohair hood. The interior remains completely original and the trim with the original production labels remains in excellent condition.
For sale at Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth. The car has been displayed at Stratstone's London showroom in Mayfair, the photograph shows the car in front of their showroom. 24,813 recorded miles. £270,000.
