Car to be at auction 5/26

www.manorparkclassics.com/auction/lot/lot-128---1973-jaguar-e-type-22/

Auction description:

The Barons MPC South April 2026 Auction, 18th Apr, 2026

Rare colour, V12 power and unmistakable E-Type presence

Estimate £32,000 - £38,000

Registration: TUU 265M

Chassis: 1S52035

Odometer: T.B.C

Transmission: Manual

MOT: Exempt

Matching numbers UK-supplied example

Rare Heather with Cerise interior

Long-term ownership since 2008

£2,800+ recent mechanical work

First registered on 18th September 1973, this late Series 3 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2 Fixed Head Coupe is a desirable UK-supplied, matching numbers example finished in its distinctive and rarely seen original colour combination of Heather with Cerise leather interior. Notably, this is believed to be the only Fixed Head Coupe listed on the XKE register in this particular specification, making it a particularly individual and collectible example of Jaguar’s iconic grand tourer.

Powered by the legendary 5.3-litre V12 engine and paired with a manual gearbox, the Series 3 E-Type offers effortless performance combined with refined long-distance capability. The 2+2 configuration provides additional practicality over the two-seater, while retaining the unmistakable styling that made the E-Type one of the most celebrated cars of its era.

This example has had 11 former keepers, with the current owner having enjoyed the car since 2008, suggesting a period of long-term, enthusiastic ownership. It is understood that the car underwent a full restoration during the 1990s, and today presents with an attractive patina, particularly within the original interior which remains in place and adds greatly to the car’s authenticity and charm.

Mechanically, the car has benefitted from recent expenditure totalling over £2,800 in 2024. Works carried out include replacement of the engine cross-pipe and thermostat-to-radiator pipework, re-facing and reassembly of water housings with new gaskets, replacement of the fan switch housing and associated components, new air filters and seals, and the installation of a spin-on oil filter conversion along with fresh oil and coolant. Additional items such as bonnet gas strut fittings have also been attended to, with the cooling system refilled and tested accordingly.

The car is accompanied by a file of invoices, previous MOT certificates, and importantly a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate confirming its provenance. It sits on Pirelli P4000 tyres all round and has clearly been dry stored, contributing to its overall preservation.

On the road, the car is reported to drive well, offering the smooth, torquey performance expected of the V12 E-Type.

A rare opportunity to acquire a distinctive and matching numbers Series 3 E-Type in an unusual factory colour combination, with long-term ownership, recent mechanical work, and considerable presence. A usable classic that could be enjoyed as is or further improved to the next level.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
