This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is said to have spent time in North Dakota before being brought to Canada, where it remained with the same owner from 1981 to 2025. Chassis 1S70998 was acquired by the seller in 2025 and underwent reconditioning work that involved repainting the hood, repairing the radiator, refurbishing the fuel tank, and servicing the suspension and brakes. Finished in red over black leather, the car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It rides on 15” knock-off wire wheels and features power steering and four-wheel disc brakes along with a Philips push-button radio and Smiths instrumentation. This Series III E-Type is now offered by the seller—a BaT Local Partner—with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, recent service records, and Alberta registration.
The car left the factory finished in Signal Red and is believed to have been repainted under previous ownership. The seller notes that the forward-hinged louvered hood was repaired and repainted in 2026 and that the color is darker than the rest of the paintwork. Additional work under current ownership has involved replacing the antenna mast as well as the headlight wiring. Wraparound bumpers, metal mud guards and quad exhaust outlets are further details.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/70-15 Dunlop SP Sport tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering as well as four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Suspension and brake work under current ownership is noted to have involved the following:
Changing the front ball joints and tie-rod ends
Replacing the rear subframe bushings
Changing the brake master cylinder and hoses
Rebuilding the front brake calipers
Replacing the rear brake calipers and pads
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather as well as a color-coordinated dash, center console, and door panels. Interior amenities include a Philips push-button radio, a locking glovebox, and pop-out pivoting rear glass. The car retains air conditioning equipment, though the system does not work.
The drilled-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, while an inoperative analog clock is mounted in the center of the dash along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. Work performed under current ownership is noted to have involved the following:
Refurbishing the ignition system
Repairing the radiator
Replacing the radiator fan motor and hoses
Changing various accessory belts
Boiling and re-coating the fuel tank
Performing an oil change
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The fluids for the transmission and differential were changed in 2026.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate notes a build date of January 30, 1971, and lists factory identification numbers and colors.
Photos of the car as it was acquired out of long-term storage are included along with images taken at various stages of the recommissioning process.
