Car to be at auction 9/20

www.barons-auctions.com/view-lot/3755/for-sale-at-barons-auctions-1973-jaguar-e- ..._medium=email&utm_source=sharpspring&sslid=M7E0MzIyNDM0NjC1BAA&sse ...

Auction description:

Jaguar Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars: 22 Sep 2020 - 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Coupe V8

22 September 2020 at Sandown Park Racecourse

Guide Price: £29,000 to £35,000

Sold: £31,900

Registration No: EIG 6118

Chassis No: UD1S74490BW

MOT: Not Required

Colour: Blue

This Jaguar E-Type Series 3 FHC Auto LHD is certainly something a little different, and definitely not for the purists! A 1973 E-Type FHC with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, finished in attractive Tungsten blue metallic with a lovely gently patinated rich red interior. It is a very original rust free car from the desert state of Arizona which has required no welding or body repairs since its arrival back here some years ago.

Sometime in its USA life it acquired a 5.7 litre Chevy small block engine with a GM auto box. This was a professional installation that required no modifications to the bodywork and A frames, which remain in excellent condition. The interior, unlike many similar conversions, remains 100% as factory specification, including the gear change and instruments.

The previous owner obtained a correct Jaguar V12 engine and gearbox complete with carburettors and all other ancillaries. However, having used the car with V8 power for a while, the intended conversion back to original spec never actually happened. Instead the V8 engine was fine-tuned by AJC Classics and the GM box and torque convertor fully rebuilt by Alders Automotive. At the same time the rear suspension unit was overhauled and the suspension was fully polybushed with new shocks and springs all round. What was achieved was not only a car that is very usable and totally reliable, but one that is simply great fun to drive. The car handles and drives like an E-Type should, with the V8 performance and exhaust note from the sports exhaust guaranteed to bring a smile to any drivers face.

No doubt there are those who understandably would wish to return the car to as built configuration, and this will be relatively easy to do. However, once driven, it would be a good bet that the V8 will be left to continue to throb away while the V12 is kept safely stored away for a rainy day.

The car comes complete with original handbooks and wallet, an original jack and full tool kit, cherished number plate, and a period radio with a discreet ipod connection. There is a file of invoices and receipts and all old MoT’s. Although not needed, it will have a full current MoT for peace of mind.

It also comes with the Jaguar V12 engine and box, which will be delivered on a pallet anywhere in mainland UK within 7 days of purchase at the auction.

1973 Jaguar E Type Series 3 Coupe automatic imported from Arizona, USA in 2014. Whilst in the USA the car was fitted with a 5.7 litre chevy engine with a GM auto Gearbox.

This is an excellent car to drive with the burbling v8 giving good power and a very smooth drive. Coming from a dry state the car is in good solid condition, and the paintwork is very good. The interior is also very good with a good patina.

For the purist there is a Jaguar V12 engine that can be sent to the new owner at their cost but is included in the sale.

The car has a good service history whilst in the UK and there is a large pile of invoices which also show a recent new carburettor and regular service and repairs. Also in the history is a Jaguar heritage certificate and the original maintenance and service handbook

Car returns to market 4/26

Auction description:

18th Apr, 2026, The Barons MPC South April 2026 Auction

Better than your average E-Type

Estimate £27,000 - £30,000

Registration: EIG 6118

Chassis: UD1S74490BW

Odometer: 58,112

Transmission: Automatic

MOT: September 2026

Features a 5.7 litre Chevy engine

USA Import

Jaguar Heritage Certificate included

Presenting in the attractive Tungsten Blue Metallic with a lovely rich Red interior, this 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 automatic was imported from Arizona, USA in 2014. Whilst in the USA the car was fitted with a 5.7 litre Chevy engine with a GM auto Gearbox. There is just one former keeper showing on the V5 since being in the UK, and its overall condition is described by the vendor as 'very good'.

Included with the car, is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, where the car was originally fitted with a V12 in the body style 2+2 Coupe, left-hand drive, in Silver. The burbling V8 that was fitted to the vehicle during its life in America, gives good power and provides a very smooth drive. This is said to have been a proffessional installation that required no modifications to the bodywork and A frames.

In terms of condition, the paintwork remains good, with a couple of marks here an there, as well as all the chrome presenting well. The interior, unlike many similar conversions, is said to remain 100% as factory specification. The interior presents well with a good patina.

For the purists, you'll be happy to know that there is a Jaguar V12 engine that can be sent to the new owner at their costs. The previous owner obtained a correct Jaguar V12 engine and gearbox complete with carburettors and all other ancillaries. The current owner had intentions of fitting the V12, however, having used the car with V8 power for a while, the intended conversion back to original spec never actually happened. Instead the V8 engine was fine tuned by AJC and GM box and torque convertor fully rebuilt by Alders Automtove. At the same time, the rear suspension was overhauled and the suspension was fully polybushed with new shocks and springs all round. What was acheived, was not only a car that is very usable and reliable, but one that is simply great fun to drive. No doubt there are those who undertsandably would wish to return the car to as built configuration and we've been told this should be relatively easy to do so.

Although this E-Type is MOT exempt, it comes with a MOT valid until September 2026, where it shows as passing with no advisories, going some way to providing some peace of mind for the next custodian.
