A new water pump as well. All of the electrical works. The body is absolutely 100% rust free has never been in any major accidents. The motor is in excellent condition, with good compression of around 140 psi, no smoke or unusual noises. It starts every time with no effort. Lot #253842

This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster has been refinished in red over tan leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a tan soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, and a cassette stereo. It remained with its prior owner from 1991 until 2026, when it was acquired by the selling dealer. Work in preparation for the sale involved replacing the water pump, oil pressure switch, tie rod ends, and front brake pads. This XKE roadster is now offered with a clean California title.

Said to have been originally finished in British Racing Green, the car was repainted red some time ago, and exterior equipment includes a replacement tan soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, a luggage rack, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes various paint chips.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with 195/75 Mantera tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The tie rod ends and front brake pads were replaced in preparation for the sale and the upper ball joints were rebuilt.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include three-point seatbelts, an aftermarket cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, and a heater. The switch for the dash lights has been modified to illuminate with the headlights.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The water pump, coolant hoses, and oil pressure switch were replaced in 2026. The seller tells us that the fuel pump was also replaced, an oil change was performed, and the carburetors were cleaned and tuned.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
