This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe left the factory finished in Light Blue over Dark Blue leather and was relocated to Washington after being acquired out of California by the current owner’s husband in 2005. Work totaling over $20k in 2026 has involved overhauling the cylinder head, connecting rods, and pistons in addition to repairing the water pump, servicing the disc brakes, and more as detailed below. The car is powered is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. Further equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood and 15″ steel wheels as well as a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo. This XKE coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a Washington State title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in Light Blue and features a louvered clamshell hood, sealed-beam open headlights, and wraparound chrome bumpers. The body is believed to have been repainted under previous ownership, and the seller notes rust behind one of the rear wheels. Various body seals were replaced in March 2026.
The 15″ ventilated steel wheels are mounted with 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, while braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder was replaced in February 2026, the brake hoses were changed in March 2026, replacement front calipers and pads were installed in May 2026, and the tires were installed and suspension work was performed in June 2026.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Dark Blue leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo, a heater, and retractable shoulder belts. The dash was re-covered in black vinyl in March 2026.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Records indicate that the engine was rebuilt in 1980 and that the cylinder head was reconditioned in 2000. Engine work in the last year has included the following:
February 2026 – Repaired water pump
March 2026 – Replaced coolant hoses
April 2026 – Replaced distributor and spark plugs, tuned carburetors
May 2026 – Changed battery
July 2026 – Resurfaced cylinder head, cut valve seats, tested cylinder head for vacuum leaks
October 2026 – Overhauled cylinder head, connecting rods, and pistons; replaced water pump, tensioner, and pulleys
The seller notes that the carburetors are fitted with adjustable jets and the secondary butterflies in the intake manifold have been disabled.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in March 2026. The seller recommends replacing the exhaust system.
Photos taken at various stages of the 2026 recommissioning work are presented in the gallery.
The current Washington State title carries a “Classic” brand.
