This 1962 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Open Two Seater, chassis number 850569, is anything but a standard E Type. Finished in iconic British Racing Green and sharpened with a vented rear deck, bumper delete, Dunlop racing style wheels with knock offs and rollover protection, it carries a clear visual nod to the legendary Jaguar D Type.
This is not a trailer queen, and certainly not a concours lawn ornament. This E Type was built for one purpose: to be driven fast. Under the bonnet sits a later Series 2 engine, upgraded to 4.7 litres and combined with an XJ6 Series 3 4.2 cylinder head. The car has been converted to left hand drive, making it far more usable on European roads. Triple Weber carburettors, open foam filters, custom fuel lines, performance exhaust manifolds, 123 ignition and an upgraded cooling system complete the mechanical package.
Add the 5 speed gearbox and limited slip differential, and the result is a completely different animal from a standard E Type. Sharper, louder, faster and far more alive.
The car is accompanied by Belgian registration documents, Car Pass, technical inspection, invoices, paint measurement report and a recent valuation report.
This is the ultimate E Type for those who understand that cars like this were built to be used properly. A sharp, brutal and seriously quick road machine with the looks of a 1960s icon and the attitude to back it up. And believe us, this car is fast. Properly fast. It will leave plenty of other 1960s sports cars in its mirrors.
