I have owned this car for the last 45 years. I just had it restored from top to bottom and front to rear. It looks better than the day it came from the factory. I will soon be posting pictures of the car and at that time I will offering it for sale.

Chassis 875279, the 279th left-hand drive open two-seater, built in the summer of 1961. The early build is evident in the car: the external bonnet latches, the flat floors, the welded-in louvres in the roof, the two-piece door skins, and the early boot details that disappeared after the first series. It is the E-Type as it came off the drawing board, before Jaguar made it more comfortable and easier to build in certain aspects.
It is an American car. The second owner kept it for forty years and hardly drove it; around 2016, he had the E-Type restored body-off to concours level, with a photo report that has been preserved. The current owner, the fourth, bought the car in that condition and subsequently invested further in refining the originality details. A folder containing the history comes with the car. According to the accompanying certificate, the car is matching numbers regarding engine and bodywork—engine number R 1358-9, body number R 1388—and the color is listed as black.
In addition to this restored originality, there are four deliberate deviations, all reversible and with the original parts included. An EZ electric power steering system has been fitted to make maneuvering easier; the original steering pipe has been retained. The original Moss gearbox, with a non-synchronized first gear, has been replaced by a fully synchronized gearbox from the later 4.2 series, which is more pleasant in traffic and fits the car better. Furthermore, there is a Mareston aluminium radiator for better cooling in heavy traffic, and the interior has been re-trimmed in red, whereas the factory specification was black. Every modification can be reversed for those who wish to keep the car original down to the last detail.
The bodywork is black, unadorned on original 15-inch wire wheels, just as an early roadster should be. The red interior provides a warm contrast to this. The early bucket seats and the dotted aluminium dashboard are characteristic of this model year; the seats are firm, which is also part of the package.
This makes this primarily a car for shows and concours events, and less so for long journeys through Europe, although the power steering and synchronized gearbox do make it truly usable on the road. The E-Type currently has Danish registration.
