Wrong about North Bend - she's been with me since I bought her in 1970 in San Diego. Still in SoCal in semi-restored condition. Originally English White, now in triple black.

1961 Jaguar E-Type
Exterior Color: Black
Interior Color: Black
Transmission: Manual
Odometer: 59340
This 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (VIN 875317) is an early production example finished in black with a matching removable hard top over a black interior. The car has been in the same family since 1970, purchased by my father in San Diego and carefully maintained by him for over five decades before I inherited it last year.
A lifelong Jaguar enthusiast and owner of a Jaguar repair shop, my father performed much of the maintenance and modification work himself. The car now shows 59,340 miles and remains an outstanding candidate for light restoration or preservation as a characterful driver. It currently runs under its own power.
Condition
The E-Type has been stored covered and indoors for many years. It will need a mechanical recommissioning before being driven regularly. The engine, transmission, and clutch operate, but the brakes and clutch system need attention for safe use. The car has no visible rust or structural damage.
The soft top is intact, and original hard top comes with the sale.
Paint and interior show age consistent with long-term storage.
Recent maintenance includes a new oil change, battery, and replacement fuel tank.
A set of new original-style wire wheels (still in boxes) is included with the sale.
Upgrades & Modifications
This E-Type is not numbers-matching and has been modified over time, primarily by my father:
Repainted from its original English Cream to black.
Replacement seats (one original seat included).
Non-original dash and center console.
Upgraded to a 4.2-liter Jaguar engine (exact donor model unknown).
These changes reflect my father’s expert touch as a Jaguar mechanic and give the car a distinctive driver’s-car personality while preserving the timeless essence of the Series I.
Provenance & Documentation
Family-owned since 1970 (California car).
Eligible for a Jaguar Heritage Certificate through the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust to verify factory build specifications.
