This is taken from the eBay listing description:
The car you are bidding on is an early, “flat floor,” one owner, California black plate car with all matching numbers:
Car Number: 875775
Engine Number: R2140-9
Body Number: R1988
Gearbox Number: EB1252 JS
Early in its life, the car was involved in a front-end collision, and because bonnets were readily available, replacement was the remedy of choice. As a result, the new bonnet has pressed in louvres, rather than the original welded in panels. While close inspection of the sub-frame still reveals minor signs of damage, bonnet fit and alignment are as they should be.
The only modifications are the alloy radiator and electric cooling fan and the chrome wire wheels.
Recent repairs include a new clutch, and head gasket replacement.

Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster #775 of the original 1581 LHD E-types imported into the U.S. between 1961 and 1962.
One Owner since new - all numbers match - California "black plate" car. Complete and very road-worthy.
Since its introduction in 1961, few cars have captured the automotive world’s favor like the E-type Jaguar. Then the epitome of the British sports car, the E-type continues to define an era and an attitude… optimistic and liberated.

The only modifications are the alloy radiator and electric cooling fan (California summers and early Jaguars did not get along well), and the chrome wire wheels.

This wonderful piece of automotive history still drives and purrs like new, but it would also make an outstanding candidate for a full concourse quality rebuild.

This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 ‘Flat Floor’ Roadster is a rare early iteration of the iconic British sports car, which has benefitted from a recent restoration.
It is powered by a numbers-matching 3.8-litre naturally aspirated straight-six, fed by triple SU carburettors, driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
This E-Type Series 1 Roadster was manufactured in 1961 and is understood to be one of only 100 left-hand-drive ‘Flat Floor’ examples produced.
The car was originally delivered to California, US. It was subsequently imported to Italy in 2011 where it remained as part of a wider collection and was restored during 2017 in the original factory colour. It is now located in Germany.
Early in its life, the car is known to have had a front-end collision. Because there was no short of spare bonnets at the time, it was replaced rather than repaired. This means that the bonnet features pressed-in louvres rather than the original welded items.
The odometer indicates 21,157 miles, though this is not warranted.
Equipment and features
As an early E-Type; this model features a flat floor, larger rear drive shafts and wishbones, an aluminium centre console section, and an air-intake assembly box without grooves.
It is finished in cream with a black soft-top roof, over a red leather-trimmed interior, with a black dashboard top and accented by attractive textured aluminium trim on the dashboard and centre console, and punctuated by chrome trim accents.
It rides on 15-inch wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs, fitted with Michelin tyres.
Equipment includes a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, heating and ventilation controls, a selection of toggle switches, and variable speed electric windscreen wipers.
It will be accompanied by the original maintenance handbook, a selection of maintenance invoices, its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, TÜV report, and tool kit.
The seller notes that there are some service history documents dating back to the 1960s.
Condition
Specific notes from the seller include: during the restoration, no welding was required as the car was found to be rust-free, and original body parts were reused rather than replaced.
The most recent inspection of roadworthiness was in March 2024 during which the seller reports that no warnings or advisory items were noted.
Service history
The latest service was carried out during March 2024 at Klassikerwerkstatt in Buja, Italy. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the spark plugs and the brake fluid.
Prior to this, the seller notes that in 2017 the whole car was stripped and repainted, and during that time it was overhauled and restored.
The car is noted to have been serviced every two years since the restoration.
