"Epitomising the glamour and excitement of the swinging 60s, the Jaguar E-type was described by Enzo Ferrari as 'the most beautiful car ever made'.
"And nearly 60 years later, our Jaguar Reborn programme will see a selection of Series 1 E-types restored to their former glory for future generations of collectors to enjoy." - Jaguar Land Rover.
According to Jaguar: "Every E-type Reborn restoration is flawlessly produced according to its original 1960s factory specification. Unique access to build records and original drawings held by the Jaguar Heritage Trust, combined with the team's experience in restoration and our world class facilities at Classic Works, ensure absolute authenticity. Jaguar Classic Parts are used throughout and re-engineered where required using the latest CAD techniques. This maximises the vehicle's quality, longevity and collectability."
Sensible updates are permitted; for example, the electrical system now features electronic ignition, a high-torque starter motor and a Dynator, the latter providing a modern and more reliable charging system while retaining the classic look of the original dynamo.
The accompanying JHT certificate reveals that this car was competed on 11th April 1962 as a left-hand drive Coupé finished in Carmen Red with Black trim, distributed by Jaguar Cars New York.
