Restored, U.K.-Spec 1969 Jaguar E Type Convertible

Current Bid $27,000

VIN P1R10694

Odometer 31,291

Engine 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six

Auction Type Reserve

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is said to have been rebuilt to U.K. specification.

That would have raised output from 246 horsepower to 265 horsepower.

Torque would have increased from 265 lb-ft to 283 lb-ft.

A triple set of SU HD8 carburetors supplanted the dual Zenith-Stromberg 175 CD2SEs.

High compression pistons and high-performance cams were fitted.

A custom header and exhaust system were also installed.

The Jaguar’s four-speed manual transmission is said to have been rebuilt.

No maladies are noted for the front-engine/rear-drive powertrain.

The engine is said to wind more freely and feel stronger at high revs.

The E-type’s British Racing Green finish is said to be a color change.

The black convertible roof functions as intended and shows well.

Glass and trim are complete, and all lighting works as intended.

The seats were reupholstered during restoration and the carpets were replaced.

All interior components present well.

Comfort and convenience items have no reported concerns.

Steering, suspension, and braking systems are without complaints.

A set of Dunlop knockoff wire wheels replace the original steel wheels.

NEEDS

The seller states the Jaguar’s only need is to be driven.

This British Racing Green 1969 Jaguar E-type Series II Roadster is said to have been treated to a full restoration that began in 2006 and was completed in 2009. During this process, the chassis is said to have been stripped, cleaned, and repainted. Additionally, all the Series II XK-E’s mechanicals are reported to have been rebuilt. The Jaguar convertible is also said to have been updated and cleaned up again in 2025. The E-type’s color is reported to have been changed from the original Sable to British Racing Green while the body was stripped during the initial restoration and “no hint of the original color remains.” The 4.2-liter XK engine was upgraded from U.S. specification to U.K. specification during the restoration and the original steel wheels were supplanted by a set of knock-off wire wheels. While the E-type Roadster shows quite well, the seller characterizes the Jaguar as “a high-performing driver’s car,” rather than a show car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
