    Sold at RM auction Monterey, California 8/31/04

    Auction description/result:

    Lot # 182 1973 Jaguar XKE SIII

    Identification No. UD1S21260

    V12 Roadster; S/N UD1S21260; Engine # 7S87843LA; Green/Brown leather, Black top; Estimate $30,000 - $40,000; Older restoration, 3 condition;

    Hammered Sold at $29,700. - - 4-speed, AM-FM Alpine stereo, chrome wire wheels, remote side mirrors.

    Pitting on wheels. Rip in top on driver’s side. Front bumper rubber cracking. Interior shows use. Chip in hood on right side. Otherwise good paint and chrome. A sound driver. No Reserve. This is a fair price for a fair car.

    Offered here, finished in British Racing green with biscuit leather interior is one of the last of great E-Type Roadsters. Carefully maintained by its current owner, this Jaguar is an honest example that displays a cosmetic restoration which included a respray of the green paintwork some time ago. The paint and interior appear presentable however there is evidence of wear and touch up work like executed as a result of use only. It is fitted with a black convertible top and the correct four-speed manual gearbox as well as an Alpine stereo systems and tape deck. This Series III E-Type is a handsome example that is perfect driver car for any enthusiast of the marque.

    Spam prevention question (must be answered):
    The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

    What disease did Lucas succumb to?
