This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was sold new through Charles H. Hornburg, Jr. Motor Cars of Beverly Hills, California, in July 1974, and was later owned by former Road & Track publisher Richard Bartkus. The car is finished in green with a black soft top over tan leather and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It rides on 15” knock-off wire wheels coupled with disc brakes and Koni shocks at all four corners and is further equipped with power steering, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026 and is now offered in Palm Springs, California, with an owner’s manual, service records, and a duplicate Idaho title.
The car is finished in green and features a forward-hinged louvered hood, uncovered headlights, dual side mirrors, wraparound bumpers, and quad exhaust outlets. A replacement black soft top was installed in 2021.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and were mounted with 215/70 Hankook tires in 2018. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering as well as four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. This example has been fitted with Koni shocks at all four corners.
The cabin features seats trimmed in tan leather as well as a color-coordinated center armrest, door panels, and carpets. Interior amenities include an AM/FM radio, air conditioning, a sliding rear-view mirror, and a locking glovebox.
The drilled-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles. The speedometer cable was replaced in 1979 and was later repaired in 1998. True mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 net horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
An owner’s manual, vehicle literature, and service records are included in the sale.
