According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate on file, this 1973 E-Type Series 3 V12 2+2 coupe was completed on 20 December 1973 in Silver Metallic over a French Blue interior. The V12-powered coupe was delivered to the United States via British Leyland New York in early 1973. According to scans of its Fahrzeugbrief, by 1989 the E-Type was located in Ratingen, Germany just outside of Düsseldorf with Hans Ruppelt. The document reveals the car was deregistered in 1992 and a new Fahrzeugbrief issued to Manfred van Eick that year. Of interest, the car was then sold for a short period before being reacquired by a member of the van Eick family in 1996 remaining in Düsseldorf.
Two additional German caretakers followed beginning 2010 before it was acquired by the consignor in 2017. Restored in its original color of Silver Metallic, a condition report commissioned in February 2024 on file and available for review records the V12 coupe in grade 1 condition. Furthermore, the inspection reveals that the body and paint are "sehr gut" (very good), with a new interior in red to correct specifications and correct wheels and tires.
At the time of cataloging, the car presents in essentially the same condition as noted in the 2024 inspection. It retains its matching-numbers engine, and body, as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Well-restored Series 3 2+2 examples are increasingly difficult to find, and this example stands out for its combination of original color, documented history, and high-quality restoration. With its smooth V12 power and refined grand touring character, it represents a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the most usable and sophisticated versions of the E-Type.
