Lot #144674

The car is finished in Signal Red and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a black soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, US-spec bumpers, and a power antenna. The seller notes rub marks on the rear window of the soft top.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Dunlop Sport SP radial tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The cabin features seats upholstered in black leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Amenities include an AM/FM radio, air conditioning, and roll-up windows. The 8-track player is inoperative. The seller notes that the right vent is missing the cross bar and the blower motor does not blow on the high setting.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 800 of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Photos from various stages of the refurbishment are viewable in the gallery.

Prior awards and JCNA judging sheets are included in the sale and can be seen below, along with the owner’s manual, jack and knock-off tool, a spare set of floor mats, and a scale model of the car.

The car is registered as Planned Non-Operation in the state of California.

Lot #238191

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was refurbished in the late 1990s and subsequently honored with numerous first-place awards over the years from various Concours d’Elegance and Jaguar Owner’s Club events. It was acquired by the current owner on BaT in April 2024, and subsequent work involved replacing spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil, as well as changing fluids. Finished in Signal Red over black leather, the car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a retrofitted four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The red finish is complemented by a black soft top and top boot, and the car is further outfitted with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. This Series III E-Type is now offered on dealer consignment with a North Carolina title.
